2014 marks the fifth year of BUMF, a family-friendly, free urban music event presented by the City of Boston. BUMF offers a contemporary view of the urban music scene in and around Boston celebrating the best of Hip-Hop, R & B, Funk and Soul, featuring both local and national acts. Besides the free outdoor concert, BUMF also works to highlight some of the city's most important musical non-profit organizations and raise awareness of the need for quality music programs for students and adults alike.
To that end, this year Mayor Marty Walsh enacted a fellowship program for accepted high school students to engage and learn about various music industry topics from professionals in the Boston area, as well as the importance and impact of urban music culture on society. The fellowship aims to empower and educate Boston's youth with the tools, knowledge, and insight to learn necessary industry skills and the cultural foundations of hip-hop culture in Boston and beyond.
Join us on August 23rd at City Hall Plaza for this year's free outdoor concert!.
